Kevin Cartwright, the communication director of the Baltimore City Fire Department, noted that the temperature around the port was -1°C. A team of divers is continuing search and rescue operations.

 

The White House stated that it is closely monitoring the situation, which was described as a "terrible incident," following the collapse of the bridge. White House officials extended condolences to the families of the missing and stated that the U.S. Coast Guard is continuing search and rescue efforts.

 

While there are no indications so far that the ship accident could be part of a terrorist attack, officials stated that the incident was not intentional.
