Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher's watch collection is going up for sale. Schumacher, who clinched seven Formula One World Championships, has some of his luxury personalized timepieces uniquely celebrating these victories.

This rare collection, comprising eight luxury and personalized watches, could fetch over $4.8 million in total. The watches will be exhibited in New York from May 3 to May 5 and then auctioned off at a live auction in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 13.

Schumacher's family announced that they have decided to sell some of the watches he accumulated over the years. According to Remi Guillemin, the head of Christie's watch department, the family wanted these watches to fall into the hands of collectors who would appreciate their true value.

Among the standout pieces in the collection is Schumacher's platinum F.P. Journe Vagabondage 1. This watch constitutes nearly half of the collection's estimated value and is expected to sell for up to $2.2 million. Additionally, the Rolex stainless steel Paul Newman Daytona and Schumacher's Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watches are drawing attention.

Schumacher's watch collection will be part of Christie's traditional auction of rare timepieces. This auction encompasses vintage and modern pieces from brands like Audemars Piguet, F.P. Journe, and Rolex.

Some of the watches in Schumacher's collection commemorate his F1 career and championship victories. For instance, the white gold Audemars Piguet Royal Oak gifted to Schumacher by Ferrari CEO Jean Todt celebrates his six championship triumphs.

Schumacher suffered a severe head injury in a skiing accident in 2013 and has not been seen in public since. However, his wife Corinna stated in a 2021 Netflix documentary that they are together and providing him with all necessary care and treatment.
